ROME, Italy — “Pausing for a few minutes of recollection in that place of prayer, I addressed the one Lord of Heaven and earth...”, pope Benedict XVI said some years ago, remembering his visit to the famous Blue Mosque, in Istanbul, Turkey, on November 30, 2006. At that time, he was the highest authority of the Catholic Church, before resigning on 28 February 2013 and retiring to private life after the election of his successor, the Argentine Francis. Finally, he died at the Vatican on 31 December 2022, and buried on 5 January 2023.
