China’s Belt and Road Forum opens in Beijing

BEIJING (TCA) — Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for closer cooperation across Asia and Europe in areas from anti-terrorism to finance as leaders from 29 countries gathered in Beijing today for the opening of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, the event that would promote a Chinese trade initiative that could increase Beijing’s global influence on trade and geopolitics, RFE/RL reports.

Kyrgyzstan attracts tourists by celestial mountains and nomadic culture

BISHKEK (TCA) — Travel agencies, tourist companies, resorts and hotels of Kyrgyzstan and foreign countries presented their products and services at the Issyk-Kul International Tourism Exhibition 2017. On May 6-7, the Tourism Department under the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic together with the Kyrgyz Resorts Association held the event in Cholpon-Ata city at Lake Issyk-Kul.

U.S. donates $6 million to Tajikistan’s border guards

DUSHANBE (TCA) — United States Ambassador to Tajikistan Elisabeth Millard, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Tajikistan General-Lieutenant Saymumin Yatimov, and 1st Deputy SCNS Chairman and Commander of the Border Force of Tajikistan General-Lieutenant Rajabali Rahmonali on May 11 attended the handover ceremony of $6 million in vehicles, communications equipment, and thermal cameras to the Main Border Guard Department under the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan. This assistance will be used to increase the ability of Tajikistan’s Border Guards to identify and interdict narcotics crossing along Tajikistan’s borders, the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe said.
