Speeches were also made by the leaders of the energy sector from India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
Mr Akhmedkhadzhaev, First Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, said: “The need for a constant increase in power generation on the one hand, and the real problems for each country associated with the process of climate change on the other, today poses the task for all mankind to find an acceptable transition to clean and sustainable energy. It is no coincidence that we are discussing this issue here – at the ministerial meeting of the SCO member countries – as finding effective ways to transition to green energy is, indeed, a global matter.”
The Ministerial meeting ended with adoption of a protocol to approve the Action Plan for the Practical Implementation of the Concept of Cooperation between the SCO Member States in the Energy Sphere, and the Draft Program for Cooperation between the SCO Member States in the Use of Renewable Energy Sources.
The implementation plan of the Concept includes cooperation within the framework of the SCO in the field of energy security, renewable energy and hydropower, regional electricity trade, and human capital development.
The program of cooperation of the SCO member states provides for:
