OSCE promotes women’s economic empowerment in rural areas of Kazakhstan

TARAZ, Kazakhstan (TCA) — An OSCE-supported roundtable discussion on promoting women entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan’s rural areas, which took place on August 19 in Taraz, South Kazakhstan, brought together some 50 participants from the Kazakh Parliament, the Zhambyl local administration, the regional National Chamber of Entrepreneurs Atameken, business organizations and civil society, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana reported.

Business Council to attract Turkish capital to Tajik economy

DUSHANBE (TCA) — Tajikistan and Turkey plan to increase bilateral trade and attract Turkish capital to the Tajik economy, Avesta news agency reported citing Mahmut Er, chairman of the Turkish-Tajik Business Council.

Bank loans to Kazakhstan economy up in first half of 2016

ASTANA (TCA) — In June 2016 the total volume of loans issued by the banking sector to the economy of Kazakhstan had reached KZT 12.5 trillion. However, despite a remarkable fall in new loans in January 2016 the total volume of new loans was up by 6.8 percent year on year in the first six months of 2016, Ranking.kz reports.

EU disburses first tranche of EUR 5m to support electoral reform in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK (TCA) — The European Union on 1 August transferred EUR 5 million to the treasury account of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic as part of a program aimed to support electoral reform in the country, the Delegation of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic said on August 18.

Kazakhstan president extends moratorium on leasing farmland to foreigners
