Kyrgyzstan and WFP launch skills training for food security

BISHKEK (TCA) — The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on July 26 agreed to develop training courses and coaching services related to techniques in agriculture, to improve the knowledge, livelihoods and food security of the poor and vulnerable across the country, the WFP Kyrgyzstan said.

Korea to start new healthcare project in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT (TCA) — Director of KOICA Uzbekistan Office Im Jeong Hee and the Deputy Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Laziz Tuychiev have signed a protocol on the implementation of a new project “Creation of a center of excellence of medical personnel of the Children’s Diversified Medical Center and the 4th-level highly specialized multidisciplinary clinic” in Tashkent, the Jahon information agency reported.

UN reports record high level of civilian casualties in Afghanistan

KABUL (TCA) — A UN report on Afghanistan published on July 25 shows a record number of civilian casualties since counting began in 2009, with 5,166 civilians recorded killed or maimed in just the first six months of this year, of whom almost one-third were children. The total civilian casualty figure recorded by the UN between 1 January 2009 and 30 June 2016 has risen to 63,934, including 22,941 deaths and 40,993 injured, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said.

Uzbekistan and France discuss further cooperation

TASHKENT (TCA) — The regular, sixth meeting of the Uzbek-French Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Tashkent last week, the Jahon Information Agency reported.
