ASTANA (TCA) — Polymetal International plc has entered into a binding agreement with Kazzinc LTD, a subsidiary of Glencore plc, for the acquisition of Orion Minerals LLP, the holding company for the Komarovskoye gold deposit in Kazakhstan, Polymetal said on April 4.

Kazatomprom and ConverDyn launch joint uranium marketing initiative

ASTANA (TCA) — Kazakhstan’s national atomic company Kazatomprom and US’s ConverDyn have signed a cooperation agreement that provides a framework for the world’s largest uranium producer and the leading provider of UF6 conversion services to jointly offer uranium in the form of natural uranium hexafluoride (UF6) to global utilities, Kazatomprom said on April 4.

U.S. and Central Asia: prosperity through partnership

BISHKEK (TCA) — On April 4-6, representatives of the five Central Asian nations and the United States are meeting to promote jobs, prosperity, and stability for the people of Central Asia. They will work together to enhance a spirit of cooperation and foster an open environment for international trade and investment through two efforts: the U.S.–Central Asian Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) Council Meeting, and the C5+1 Economic and Regional Connectivity working group, the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek said.

United States supports tourism development in Karakol in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK (TCA) — The newly created destination management organization, Destination Karakol, unveiled plans last week to develop and promote the greater Karakol area as an appealing, year-round tourism destination in Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul province.
