Kazakh entrepreneurs to take part in Global Entrepreneurship Summit

ASTANA (TCA) — Ten representatives from Kazakhstan will attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), which will take place from June 22-24 in Palo Alto, California, the U.S. Diplomatic Mission to Kazakhstan said. One of the participants will be Magzhan Madiyev, famous for founding the naimi.kz project; Madiyev was a participant in the Open World 2015 program and was also one of the trainers at TechForum Central Asia 2016 held in Astana. Another participant is Kurmanagaliyeva Aizhan, an alumna of the Ugrad 2004 program; Aizhan is currently director of the “Best Education” private school in Oskemen. They will be joining more than 700 entrepreneurs from around the world along with investors, speakers, and leaders in the entrepreneurship space.

Sustainable growth, job creation focus of new World Bank strategy in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT (TCA) — The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors on June 14 discussed a new Country Partnership Framework for Uzbekistan for 2016-2020. The new strategy is aligned with the country’s own goal of achieving upper middle-income status by 2030 by increasing the economy’s competitiveness, improving the business environment, and developing its infrastructure to support rapid job creation, the World Bank said.

Tajik-Chinese industrial zone to be established in Tajik city of Istiklol

DUSHANBE (TCA) — Construction of a large metallurgical plant to produce zinc and lead has begun in the city of Istiklol in the Sughd province in northern Tajikistan. It will be the first production facility of a new Tajik-Chinese industrial zone in the city, Avesta news agency reported.

Kazakh government adjusts economic policy

ASTANA (TCA) — At the meeting of the Government of Kazakhstan on June 14, Prime Minister Karim Massimov said the President of Kazakhstan had approved some adjustments to the country’s current economic policy, the official website of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported.

UN Information and Resource Center opens in Dushanbe

Foreign direct investments reduce in Kyrgyzstan in first quarter

BISHKEK (TCA) — Foreign direct investments (FDI) in Kyrgyzstan in January-March 2016 reduced 2.1-fold on-year and amounted to $150 million, the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic said on June 8.
