Kazakhstan to reform approach to attracting investment

ASTANA (TCA) — Kazakhstan will drastically reform the approach to attracting investments, the country’s Minister of National Economy Yerbolat Dossayev said at a press conference with members of the National Commission for modernization and implementation of the Nation’s Plan “100 concrete steps” on March 30, the official website of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier

German foreign minister starts Central Asia tour in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT (TCA) — Germany’s Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who is also the chairman in office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), is visiting Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan from 29 March to 1 April and holding talks with the countries’ political leaders in all three capitals. Steinmeier is also meeting representatives of civil society in the Central Asian countries, the German Foreign Ministry said.

Kazakhstan and EU agree to extend cooperation

ASTANA (TCA) — Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels on March 30. The meeting focused on ratification of the EU-Kazakhstan Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement signed in December 2015 and sanctions against Russia that affect Kazakhstan, RFE/RL reported.

Kazakhstan attracts investors through diplomats

ASTANA (TCA) — Astana hosted a meeting of the Diplomatic Business Club, which was established with the support of Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan and the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event presented investment projects of Kazakhstan’s Aktobe region to heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Kazakhstan, the Atameken NCE reported on its website on March 28.
