EBRD lends $2 million in local currency for female-run MSMEs and farms in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE (TCA) — The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is supporting the development of women’s entrepreneurship and of agribusiness in Tajikistan with a senior loan in local currency, equivalent to US$ 2 million, to IMON INTERNATIONAL, the largest microfinance institution in the country, the Bank said on August 3.

Presidential election campaign enters a new stage in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK (TCA) — On August 3, the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan (CEC) registered the first presidential candidate, Temir Sariyev, nominated by the Ak Shumkar political party. From August 1, the CEC has stopped accepting applications from those wishing to run for presidency in the country. The presidential elections are scheduled for October 15.

Kazakhstan hosts second international women’s forum

ASTANA (TCA) — The OSCE-supported Second International Women’s Forum on Future Energy: Women, Business, and the Global Economy began on August 2 in Astana for some 200 participants including high-level government officials and representatives of Kazakhstan’s Parliament, civil society and the business community, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana reports.
