ISSYK-KUL, Kyrgyzstan (TCA) — A two-day roundtable discussion on the importance of environmental protection for sustainable development of tourism in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan completed on June 27 in the country’s popular tourist resort. BISHKEK (TCA) — The city of Bishkek on June 8 took delivery of 30 specialised trucks for waste collection, acquired for a project to modernise solid waste management and part of a comprehensive environmental improvement programme for the Kyrgyz capital. DUSHANBE (TCA) — National consultations organised by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Tajikistan on May 17 will assist local and international partners to integrate resilience strategies into their policies and action plans, and adopt and expand the use of climate-smart agriculture practices. The project corresponds to achieving one of its five Strategic Objectives – namely to “make agriculture, forestry and fisheries more productive and sustainable” in Central Asia and Turkey, said the office of FAO in Tajikistan. BISHKEK (TCA) — The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on 19 April held an environmental workshop in Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul region for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to share information about successful advisory projects supported by the Bank and stimulate further activity in this area.
