Six-nation consultations on Afghanistan may further include Central Asia countries

BISHKEK (TCA) — On February 15 Moscow hosted consultations on Afghanistan with the participation of senior officials from six nations — Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, Iran, and India. Uzbekistan president to make first foreign trip to Turkmenistan or Russia, reports say

TASHKENT (TCA) — The new President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is expected to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan in the first half of 2017, but Russia’s Nezavisimaya Gazeta newspaper has reported that Mirziyoyev may first meet with his Turkmen counterpart, Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, in Turkmenistan.   Continue reading

Tajikistan needs more and better jobs — World Bank report

DUSHANBE (TCA) — A new report by the World Bank highlights Tajikistan’s need to prioritize job creation in order to achieve its development objectives and reduce poverty. The report, Tajikistan Jobs Diagnostic: Strategic Framework for Jobs, analyzes the main challenges the country faces in creating jobs and sets out policy recommendations to enable the creation of more and better jobs that are also more inclusive of women and youth, the World Bank said.
