DUSHANBE (TCA) — To ensure access to electricity for vulnerable communities in Tajikistan’s remotest regions along the western foothills of the Himalayas, the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors has approved the financing of $31.7 million for the Tajikistan Rural Electrification Project (TREP). The financing has been provided from the International Development Association’s (IDA) pilot Risk Mitigation Regime, the World Bank said.

BISHKEK (TCA) — Kyrgyz Minister of Health Kosmosbek Cholponbaev and USAID Mission Director Gary Linden have cemented collaboration between the United States and the Kyrgyz Republic in combating Tuberculosis (TB), an infectious disease that kills about 500 Kyrgyzstanis annually. A newly-signed Statement of Partnership between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) commits both sides to meeting national level targets in the fight against TB, the US Embassy in Kyrgyzstan said.
