OSH, Kyrgyzstan (TCA) — The article below, originally published by Stratfor, highlights the border dispute problem that since the collapse of the Soviet Union has systematically emerged between Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, which share the densely populated Ferghana Valley. Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in dispute over border area

BISHKEK (TCA) — Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have placed armored vehicles and soldiers near a disputed border area as heightened tensions have prompted the Russian-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to meet in Moscow, RFE/RL’s Kyrgyz Service reported.

Turkmenistan and UNICEF sign new Country Programme Action Plan

ASHGABAT (TCA) — Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan, Ms. Oyunsaikhan Dendevnorov, signed the Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) for the period of 2016-2020. The five-year cooperation programme is the result of the consultative process and strategic partnership between the Government of Turkmenistan and UNICEF to advance wellbeing of children and women in the country, UNICEF Turkmenistan said on March 23.

Khorgos FEZ attracting Chinese investors

ASTANA (TCA) — A forum aimed at attracting Chinese investors in the development of the Khorgos-Eastern Gates Free Economic Zone located on the Kazakh-Chinese border was held late last week in Nanjing, the main city of China’s Jiangsu province, said the press service of Kazakhstan’s national railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).
