Austrian company to modernize largest hydropower plant in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE (TCA) — ANDRITZ Group, a leading supplier of equipment and services for hydropower stations (headquartered in Austria), has received an order from Tajikistan’s state energy company, Barqi Tojik, for rehabilitation and modernization of the entire electro-mechanical equipment, including the inspection and repair of nine penstocks, for the existing Nurek hydropower plant in Tajikistan.

EDB supports trade finance, SME finance programs in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK (TCA) — The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and Halyk Bank Kyrgyzstan entered into framework agreements for a total of US $5 million to support trade finance and SME finance programs. The instruments were signed on 8 August by Dmitry Ladikov-Roev, Managing Director for Assets and Liabilities at the EDB, and Aikyn Kabulov, Chairman of the Management Board at Halyk Bank Kyrgyzstan. The trade finance agreement is the EDB’s first transaction of this kind in Kyrgyzstan.

Uzbekistan’s Tashkent Oblast, Belarus’ Minsk Oblast to cooperate in agriculture, other spheres

TASHKENT (TCA) — Uzbekistan’s Tashkent Oblast and Belarus’ Minsk Oblast intend to step up mutual trade and expand cooperation in agriculture, civil engineering, and personnel training. The governors of the two oblasts — Gulomzhon Ibragimov and Anatoly Isachenko — reached the relevant agreement during their meeting in Minsk on August 8, Belarus’ BelTA news agency reported.
