Facilities in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in the Guinness Book of Records

ASHGABAT (TCA) — Representatives of the Guinness World Records, which collects information for the Guinness World Records Book, have registered new facilities in Turkmenistan’s capital, Ashgabat, as the largest facilities by certain parameters. According to Guinness World Records certificates, the image of the horse decorating the stand of the Olympic stadium in Ashgabat is named the largest architectural symbol of the horse on the planet, and the Centre of Water Sports of the Olympic village is the largest indoor swimming pool built using newest technologies and ecologically friendly materials meeting high international standards, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

 

On this occasion, on August 21 a celebration meeting with participation of the members of the Government of Turkmenistan, mass media, Ashgabat university students, and representatives of non-governmental organizations of the country was held in the office of the Executive Committee for Preparation of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games that will take place in Ashgabat in September.

Thorough preparation for the Asian Games in Ashgabat has a visual architectural embodiment — the Olympic village that has no analogies in Central Asia.

Artistic monumental image of the horse, which is the key symbol of Ashgabat Games, has a height of 40.05 meters (131 feet and 4.9 inches) and a length of 37.69 meters (123 feet and 7.9 inches).

The second certificate was awarded to the Centre of Water Sports of Ashgabat Olympic village, which entered the Guinness World Records Book as the biggest indoor swimming pool built based on modern technologies from ecologically friendly materials meeting high requirements of international standards.

This water complex is able to accommodate 5,000 visitors who can watch swimming and water jumping competitions. It has four swimming pools of different sizes designed for competitions and training. The total area of the swimming pools is 4 976.65 square meters (53 568 square feet).

Authorities in Turkmenistan hope that success of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat would someday allow the country competing for hosting Olympic Games.

Uzbekistan to cancel excise tax on imported raw foods used by domestic producers

TASHKENT (TCA) — In order to create favorable conditions for sustainable development of domestic production of high quality finished products, meet the consumer demand of the population, prevent unjustified price rises in the domestic consumer market, and to provide Uzbekistan’s producers with raw materials not produced in the country or produced in insufficient quantities, the President of Uzbekistan has adopted a decision “On measures for further streamlining of foreign economic activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, the Jahon information agency reports.

Manufacturing industry accounts for 30% of Kazakhstan’s economy

ASTANA (TCA) — Implementation of the State Program of Industrialization gives real results, the First Vice Minister for Investment and Development Alik Aidarbayev told a press conference following the meeting of the Kazakh Government on August 22, the official website of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported.

 

The Vice Minister noted that the goal of the State Program of Industrialization is diversification of production and growth of the manufacturing sector.

“Our economy, you know, needs diversification. This program has been implemented for several years. The results are obvious. Every year the growth of the manufacturing industry is visible,” the Vice Minister said.

Today the share of the manufacturing industry in Kazakhstan’s GDP is 12 percent and in the economy as a whole 30 percent, Aidarbayev said.

In his words, the manufacturing industry has become the main driver of Kazakhstan’s industrial growth.

Aidarbayev said that in January-May 2017, the export of the manufacturing industry was $6.2 billion, an increase over the previous period by 27.8 percent.

Aidarbayev also said that 40 projects will be implemented with the participation of foreign investors as part of the Industrialization Map.

In addition to the projects of the Industrialization Map, it is planned to implement more than 100 projects in the Special Economic and Industrial Zones for a total of 280 billion tenge, and to provide 6,800 people with new jobs.

Swiss investor buys Kyrgyzstan’s leading dairy company

BISHKEK (TCA) — On August 22, Kyrgyzstan’s dairy company Siut Bulak has been sold to a Swiss investor in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic. Siut Bulak, whose products are marketed under the brand Dairy Spring, is one of the top players in the dairy industry in the country, the Embassy of Switzerland in the Kyrgyz Republic said.
