EDB accounts for 60% of private sector financing by MDBs for CIS countries

BISHKEK (TCA) — In Q3 2017, multilateral development banks (MDBs) approved CIS project financing for a total of US$ 1.5 billion, including 60% of sovereign funding and 40% of private sector funding, according to Eurasian Development Bank’s (EDB) Analytical Review. In Q3 2017, investment project financing originated by MDBs in the CIS private sector decreased 1.6 times quarter-on-quarter to US$ 613 million. Four MDBs (EDB, EBRD, BSTDB, EIB) approved funding for 18 projects. The EDB accounts for the bulk of newly approved funding (US$ 365 million, or 60%) which will be used to finance 6 projects.

WFP helps Tajikistan to strengthen emergency preparedness and response

DUSHANBE (TCA) — A ceremony was held to mark the handover by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) of the Information Technology (IT) equipment to strengthen the capacity of Tajikistan’s Information Management and Analytical Centre (IMAC). The equipment, worth US $22,000, was purchased using funding from the Government of the Russian Federation, the WFP said on October 26.

ADB president visits Tajikistan to strengthen partnership

DUSHANBE (TCA) — Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Takehiko Nakao on October 26 met with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to discuss ways of further deepening the almost 20-year partnership with the country. During the 3-day visit, Mr. Nakao also met with First Deputy Prime Minister and ADB Governor Davlatali Said and Minister of Economic Development and Trade and Alternate ADB Governor Nematullo Khikmatullozoda.
