TASHKENT (TCA) — The upper house of Uzbekistan’s parliament, the Senate, on October 12 approved acting President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s proposal for a mass amnesty of prisoners in Uzbekistan. The amnesty was adopted in honor of the country’s Constitution Day, which is marked on December 8.

DUSHANBE (TCA) — The European Union and Tajikistan held their fifth Cooperation Committee meeting on 11 October. The Cooperation Committee reaffirmed the commitment of both parties to strengthen relations in the framework of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) and took stock of the progress made since the fourth Committee meeting on 10 June 2015, the EU Delegation to Tajikistan reported.
