U.S. government helps protect the rights of Kyrgyzstan migrant workers abroad

BISHKEK (TCA) — On April 10, the U.S. Government through USAID launched two information terminals at Manas International Airport in Bishkek to prevent human trafficking and protect the rights of Kyrgyzstani migrants traveling abroad, the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan said. Ten additional kiosks will be installed across the country. The kiosks will inform travelers about their rights and steps they can take to avoid becoming victims of human trafficking. The estimated 700,000 Kyrgyzstani migrants living and working abroad face frequent discrimination and a high risk of falling prey to human traffickers.

Poland and Uzbekistan have great untapped potential in trade and economic spheres

TASHKENT (TCA) — A growing number of Polish firms show interest and desire to enter the Uzbek market for projects in such areas as oil and gas, energy, mining, road construction, transport and logistics, as well as in the free economic zones set up and being created in various regions of Uzbekistan, Ambassador of Poland to Uzbekistan Piotr Iwaszkiewicz told the Jahon information agency.

CAREC aviation officials discuss regional air cooperation in Central Asia

DUSHANBE (TCA) — Aviation officials and airline representatives from 11 member countries of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program met in Singapore last week to discuss potential for enhanced regional air transport connectivity and cooperation, said Tajikistan’s country office of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which has served as the CAREC Secretariat since 2001.
