World Bank helps improve higher education in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT (TCA) — On April 11, the World Bank and the Government of Uzbekistan signed a US$50 million Credit Agreement for the Modernizing Higher Education Project that will support the country in strengthening the management of its higher education system and improving its quality and relevance to the labor market, the World Bank said.

State Committee for Investments established in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT (TCA) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree on the establishment of the State Committee for Investments, a new government body responsible for implementation of a unified state investment policy and attraction of foreign investments, the Jahon official information agency reports.

U.S. government helps protect the rights of Kyrgyzstan migrant workers abroad

BISHKEK (TCA) — On April 10, the U.S. Government through USAID launched two information terminals at Manas International Airport in Bishkek to prevent human trafficking and protect the rights of Kyrgyzstani migrants traveling abroad, the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan said. Ten additional kiosks will be installed across the country. The kiosks will inform travelers about their rights and steps they can take to avoid becoming victims of human trafficking. The estimated 700,000 Kyrgyzstani migrants living and working abroad face frequent discrimination and a high risk of falling prey to human traffickers.
