BISHKEK (TCA) — The UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee on July 17, the last day of its 40th session which opened on 10 July in Istanbul, Turkey, inscribed eight new sites on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List including Western Tien-Shan, a transnational site shared by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, UNESCO said.

BISHKEK (TCA) — More than 100 young leaders from 16 countries and 17 ethnicities came together in Bishkek from July 13-17 for Better Understanding for a Better World (BUBW), a conference on leadership, interfaith, and intercultural tolerance. The participants worked together to find ways to encourage constructive dialogue, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding in their communities and around the world, the US Embassy in Bishkek said.

BISHKEK (TCA) — The Second World Nomad Games will be held from September 3 to 8, 2016 at Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan. An official website of the World Nomad Games (WNG) has been launched (http://worldnomadgames.com) which is available in three languages – Russian, Kyrgyz and English, and provides also a mobile version. During the Games, the schedule and program of all events and medal standings will be available on the website.
BISHKEK (TCA) — The visit of Germany’s Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel to Bishkek this week, part of a tour in the region which also included Mongolia as the end destination to join a summit of Eurasian heads of government (including Russia’s Dmitry Medvedev and China’s Li Ke-qiang), has not gone unnoticed in Germany. In Kyrgyzstan, President Atambayev has seized the opportunity to boost his own profile. Substance and tangible results of the visit, however, look hard to distinguish.
