Kazakhstan elected to UN Security Council

ASTANA (TCA) — On June 28, the 193 members of the United Nations General Assembly elected Kazakhstan, along with Sweden, Bolivia and Ethiopia, to serve on the world body’s Security Council for a period of two years, starting from 1 January 2017, the UN News Centre said.

China and Kyrgyzstan vow further cooperation

BISHKEK (TCA) — During his talks with Kyrgyz Prime Minister Sooronbai Jeenbekov in northern China’s city of Tianjin on June 27 on the sidelines of the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2016, also known as the Summer Davos Forum, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang called for enhanced cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in areas including the economy, infrastructure and international organizations, Xinhua reported.

OSCE promotes environmental security, supports clean-up campaign at Issyk-Kul

ISSYK-KUL, Kyrgyzstan (TCA) — A two-day roundtable discussion on the importance of environmental protection for sustainable development of tourism in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan completed on June 27 in the country’s popular tourist resort. Organized jointly with the OSCE Centre in Bishkek and the Aarhus Centre, the event aimed at raising awareness of local communities on how to preserve the environment and create necessary conditions for the local population and visitors during the tourist season.
