World Bank supports Youth Entrepreneurship Forum in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE (TCA) — The second Youth Entrepreneurship Forum was held on January 17 in Dushanbe and brought together over 200 participants – young people, private sector companies, civil society, government representatives, higher education institutions, and development partners. The event, supported by the World Bank Group, celebrated youth entrepreneurship successes to date and raised awareness on the relevance of youth empowerment and capacity development for job creation and economic growth in Tajikistan, the World Bank said.

EBRD and AIFC launch study for ‘green’ financial system in Kazakhstan

ASTANA (TCA) — In a new step to support Kazakhstan’s path towards a greener economy, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is launching a study that will assess the potential of developing a green financial system for the country. A system of this kind would boost financing for “green” projects in Kazakhstan and beyond and would be based within the forthcoming Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), the EBRD said.

World Bank vice president discusses partnership with Kazakhstan

ASTANA (TCA) — The World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, Cyril Muller, and the new Executive Director for Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Poland, Serbia, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan Mr. Werner Gruber, visited Astana on January 16 to discuss with the Kazakh Government the progress made during the 25-year partnership, as well as new avenues for continued cooperation for the benefit of the people of Kazakhstan, the World Bank said.

Uzbekistan sums up 2016 economic results

TASHKENT (TCA) — A meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan on January 14 summed up the country’s economic results in 2016 and outlined the government’s priorities for 2017. Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a keynote address at the meeting, the President’s press service reported.
