DUSHANBE (TCA) — The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Tajik Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population on November 26 officially launched two new projects: A five-year USAID Eliminating Tuberculosis in Central Asia (ETICA) Activity and a grant awarded to the World Health Organization (WHO) to “Improved Prevention, Detection, and Treatment of DR-TB in Central Asia”. Both TB projects are part of the USAID Central Asia Regional program that includes specific activities for Tajikistan, the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe said.

NUR-SULTAN (TCA) — The level of disposal of associated petroleum gas (APG) in Kazakhstan’s national oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG) reached 93% in 2018. This is the highest figure in the history of the company, KMG said in a press release. The data is provided in KMG’s 2018 Sustainable Development Report, which provides information on KMG’s activities in the social, economic and environmental areas.

BISHKEK (TCA) — A forum “Family Medicine in the Kyrgyz Republic: Experience, Challenges and Ways Forward” will be held in Bishkek on November 27. The goal of the forum is to discuss current status of the family medicine and to define ways forward to improve the quality and efficiency of the Primary Health Care system in Kyrgyzstan, the Embassy of Switzerland in the Kyrgyz Republic said.

ASHGABAT (TCA) — At the Turkmen Government meeting on November 22, Deputy Prime Minister overseeing oil and gas Myratgeldi Meredov briefed President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov that in the course of the exploration works carried out in the country’s Balkan province, major deposits of iron ore had been discovered, independent foreign-based news website Chronicles of Turkmenistan reported.
