Uzbekistan developing economic cooperation with India’s state of Gujarat

TASHKENT (TCA) — Tashkent hosted Uzbekistan–India business forum within the framework of the visit of the delegation of the state of Gujarat of the Republic of India led by the Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. The event, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, was attended by representatives of ministries, large business entities, businesspeople, as well as officials from more than 50 companies in India, the Jahon information agency reported on October 23.

The delegation spent four days in Andijan, Bukhara and Samarkand regions, as well as in Tashkent city. Guests held meetings with businesspeople, heads of large enterprises.

At B2B meetings, prospects for development of trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and India were discussed. The parties held talks on production of jewelry, auto parts, solar panels, dairy products, textiles, as well as on cooperation in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, tourism, agriculture, information technologies, engineering construction, petrochemicals, water systems, the use of water and solar energy.

On October 22, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the delegation of the state of Gujarat headed by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, the official website of the president of Uzbekistan reported.

President Mirziyoyev noted the dynamic development of multifaceted cooperation, the consolidation of friendship and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and India.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of joint projects in such areas as biotechnology and agricultural clusters, the textile and pharmaceutical industries, the production of auto components and cosmetics, the construction and management of hospitality infrastructure.

The parties agreed to develop a joint roadmap to promote the effective partnership of Uzbekistan with leading companies and organizations of Gujarat.

Turkmenistan: US embassy awards grant to restore Silk Road site at Dayahatyn

ASHGABAT (TCA) — U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan Matthew Klimow on October 21 awarded a $150,000 grant through the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) to the National Administration for the Preservation, Study, and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments of Turkmenistan. Ambassador Klimow presented the award at an official ceremony held at the Museum of Fine Arts, the U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat said.

Turkish company plans to build a sugar refinery in Kazakhstan

NUR-SULTAN (TCA) — Turkish investors from Kayseri Seker Fabrikasi are planning to build a sugar refinery in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region. The Turkish businessmen announced their intentions during a visit to Kazakhstan, organized by Kazakh Invest national investment promotion company jointly with the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Turkey. The Turkish investors also discussed the upcoming project with Akim (Governor) of Pavlodar region Bulat Bakauov, Kazakh Invest reported.

Tajikistan: US donates radiation detection equipment to Dushanbe airport

DUSHANBE (TCA) — On October 22, the Charge d’affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the donation of radiation detection equipment to the Dushanbe International Airport. This equipment was donated by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence (NSDD) in partnership with the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency of Tajikistan.
