Kyrgyzstan should give its citizens new opportunities

BISHKEK (TCA) — Kyrgyzstan still holds on to overall economic growth – in contrast to its other major-size partners within the EEU namely Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, which have suffered from considerable contractions through the year 2015. In this country, the main question is not just growth, but how to adjust the breakdown of the national economy in such a manner that the staggering 40 per cent of the population consisting of deprived citizens can get the opportunity to improve their lives.

European and Central Asia universities are closer thanks to TuCAHEA

PISA, Italy (TCA) — After three and a half years of activity TuCAHEA, a large-scale Tempus project financed by the European Commission and coordinated academically and scientifically by the University of Pisa (Italy), is coming to completion. Its ambitious aim was to create the bases and define the parameters for reforming the normative and organizational frameworks of Central Asia’s university systems, making them compatible with each other, and aligning them with the European system, the University of Pisa said on its website on February 11.

BISHKEK (TCA) — The government of Kyrgyzstan will focus on agriculture development, Prime Minister Temir Sariyev said in the Kyrgyz parliament on February 11.

Kazakhstan ratifies EEU free trade agreement with Vietnam

ASTANA (TCA) — On February 11 the Senate of Kazakhstan’s Parliament ratified the free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union member states and Vietnam.

Nazarbayev proposes deepening EEU economic relations with third countries

ASTANA (TCA) — Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has proposed declaring 2016 the “year of deepening economic relations of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) with third countries and key integration associations”.

Alstom increases stake in JV producing locomotives in Kazakhstan

ASTANA (TCA) — France’s Alstom and the Kazakh national railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) have closed the deal of Alstom’s acquisition of an additional 25% in the EKZ joint venture (JV), created in 2010 by Alstom, KTZ and Transmashholding (TMH) to produce electric locomotives in Kazakhstan, Alstom said on February 11.
