ADB helps to enhance energy security in Afghanistan

KABUL (TCA) — Afghanistan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on April 23 witnessed the contract signing of three Asian Development Bank-financed (ADB) energy contracts, which will help Afghanistan enhance energy security and efficiency, boost energy supply, and strengthen the country’s cross-border trade in energy, ADB’s country office in Afghanistan said.

Russia’s LUKOIL commissions gas processing plant at Kandym fields in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT (TCA) — Russia’s LUKOIL oil company has commissioned a Gas Processing Complex at the Kandym fields cluster in Uzbekistan. The official opening ceremony on April 19 was attended by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Aleksander Novak, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenyov, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan Kwon Yong Woo, and President of LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov.

Centerra provides update on strategic agreement with Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK (TCA) — Centerra Gold Inc., the Canadian-based gold mining company which operates the Kumtor gold mine in Kyrgyzstan, on April 20 announced that it has agreed with the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to extend the First Longstop Date under the Strategic Agreement for Environmental Protection and Investment Promotion previously entered into with the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on September 11, 2017. The First Longstop Date is the date by which all conditions precedent to the completion of the Strategic Agreement are required to be satisfied and it has been extended by agreement of the parties from April 20, 2018 to May 31, 2018.
