Chile ready to negotiate free trade agreement with EEU

BISHKEK (TCA) — The government of Chile is ready to start negotiations on a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), an international organization comprising Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, which encourages regional economic integration through the free movement of goods, services, and people within the union, Russia’s Sputnik news agency reports.

Tajikistan hosts C5+1 meeting between Central Asia states and the US

DUSHANBE (TCA) — On July 26, Tajikistan co-hosted a meeting of the C5+1 Security Working Group with representatives from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and the United States in Dushanbe. R. Carl Paschall, Deputy Coordinator for Operations Policy and Military Coordination of the State Department’s Bureau of Counterterrorism and Countering Violent Extremism, led the U.S. delegation with the participation of U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan Elisabeth Millard. The group discussed regional cooperation in counterterrorism and the threat of Foreign Terrorist Fighters in Central Asia, the US Embassy in Dushanbe reported.

First energy efficient kindergartens open in Kazakhstan’s Aktau city

ASTANA (TCA) — Three energy efficient kindergartens were opened on July 26 in Aktau city in Kazakhstan providing 1500 students and staff with improved heating, water supply and lighting. Representatives of the World Bank, Swiss Embassy in Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Ministry of Investments and Development together with governors of Mangistau oblast and Aktau city welcomed the initiative which creates a better environment for learning while cutting energy costs, the World Bank said in a press release.

US government promotes innovative water management in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE (TCA) — US Ambassador to Tajikistan Elisabeth Millard on July 26 participated in a forum on “Innovative Water Management for Sustainable Development”, organized by the USAID Local Governance Project and chaired by the Tajik First Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, and focused on improving the quality and management of drinking water supply services in Tajikistan, the US Embassy in Dushanbe said.
