BISHKEK (TCA) — Following the recent summit in China about the One Belt, One Road (OBOR) initiative, new plans are emerging showing a clear discomfort from several countries and some popular opposition from various local communities in countries involved in the Chinese plan. If stability and security remain the pre-condition for a successful implementation of any project the present situation of conflict and competition toward OBOR does not augur well (see One Belt, One Road: A plan for Chinese dominance and authoritarianism, TCA, 20 May 2017).

Uzbekistan plans to double natural gas production

TASHKENT (TCA) — Uzbekistan plans by 2022 to increase its annual production of natural gas by 53.5 billion cubic meters, gas condensate by 1.1 million tons, and oil by 1.9 million tons, following from materials of the Uzbekneftegaz national oil and gas company distributed during the Global Oil & Gas Uzbekistan-2017 international exhibition in Tashkent last week, Fergana News Agency reported citing Interfax.

Kazakhstan to become a halal meat export hub for Arab countries

ASTANA (TCA) — At the Kazakhstan-UAE Business Forum in Astana on May 22, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the United Arab Emirates and the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan on the creation of a joint business council “United Arab Emirates-Kazakhstan” aimed to intensify trade, economic and investment cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries, Atameken reported.
