Assessing the death of Mullah Mansour and its impact on the Taliban leadership

BISHKEK (TCA) — The death of the Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour in a U.S. drone strike in Pakistan’s Balochistan Province on May 21 has put the Taliban movement back on a powder keg, also affecting the fragile peace process being negotiated between the Taliban and the Afghan government. Terrorism in Central Asia: Will Al-Qaeda take control over Uzbek terror movement?

LONDON (TCA) — With the recent death of its last strongman, the oldest and most threatening terrorist organization of Central Asia, the Uzbek-dominated IMU, has disappeared – or may be not? From recent events it is easy to observe that Al-Qaeda is absorbing the global jihad conglomerate into its own ranks. This includes Daesh, apparently considered too exposed to be of further use, and of course the Taliban, making the danger toward Central Asia all the more acute.

Kyrgyzstan and Russia hold inter-regional cooperation forum

BISHKEK (TCA) — Last year Kyrgyzstan’s export to Russia grew 28.6 percent, Kyrgyzstan Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Pankratov said at the 5th Kyrgyz-Russian inter-regional conference “Development of inter-regional ties in the context of Eurasian integration process,” held on June 2 in Ufa, the capital of Russia’s Bashkortostan Region.
