DUSHANBE (TCA) — Tajikistan is thoroughly considering its possible accession of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), weighing all pluses and minuses of the move, Avesta news agency reported citing Khurshed Karimzoda, first deputy head of Tajikistan’s Customs Service.
ALMATY (TCA) — The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Germany’s GIZ international cooperation agency on January 17 co-hosted a forum in Almaty, Kazakhstan to help facilitate better regional cooperation on transport and transit. USAID’s recently launched ‘Competitiveness, Trade, and Jobs in Central Asia’ activity and the GIZ ‘Support to Regional Trade in Central Asia Program’ are seeking to improve regional connectivity and increase economic growth in Central Asia.
DUSHANBE (TCA) — The second Youth Entrepreneurship Forum was held on January 17 in Dushanbe and brought together over 200 participants – young people, private sector companies, civil society, government representatives, higher education institutions, and development partners. The event, supported by the World Bank Group, celebrated youth entrepreneurship successes to date and raised awareness on the relevance of youth empowerment and capacity development for job creation and economic growth in Tajikistan, the World Bank said.
BISHKEK (TCA) — Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on January 17 that Turkish authorities have captured the man they believe gunned down 39 people at an Istanbul nightclub on New Year’s Day, and expressed hope that the suspect’s interrogation would unveil “powers” behind the attack, RFE/RL reported.
