ASTANA (TCA) — Global, Regional, and National Human Development Reports for 2016 have been presented at Nazarbayev University in Astana, bringing together the representatives of Kazakhstan’s Parliament, key ministries and departments, the academia and civil society. The reports were presented by the experts from the UN Headquarters and from the Istanbul Regional Hub of the United Nations Development Programme. KABUL (TCA) — The World Bank on June 1 announced the results of a review of progress achieved in the health sector in Afghanistan from 2002-2017. Conducted by World Bank experts and an independent group from the University of Toronto, the review found that many key health indicators had improved more rapidly in Afghanistan than in most other countries that had started at a similar level of development. ASHGABAT (TCA) — United Nations Children’s Fund on April 25 congratulated the Government of Turkmenistan for having been elected to the UNICEF Executive Board for the period 2018-2020 and to the Commission on Status of Women for four years.
