Kyrgyzstan: largest hydropower plant modernization achieves key milestone

BISHKEK (TCA) — JSC Electric Power Plants (EPP), the major state-owned power generation company in Kyrgyzstan, on February 9 announced the award of a turn-key contract for the Asian Development Bank-supported (ADB) modernization of the Toktogul hydropower plant (HPP) to a joint venture of GE Hydro (France) and GE Renewables (Switzerland) for $104 million, ADB’s country office in Kyrgyzstan said.

Kazakhstan: visa-free and open-sky regimes needed for tourism development

ASTANA (TCA) — Kazakhstan’s tourism industry is facing ambitious tasks — to increase the share of tourism from the current 1% to 8% of GDP by 2025 and to raise the employment from 390 thousand people in 2017 up to 660 thousand by 2025, Chairperson of the Tourism Industry Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan, Mainyura Murzamadiyeva, said in an interview with PrimeMinister.kz.
