Kazakhstan and China discuss industrialization and investment cooperation

ASTANA (TCA) — The 14th meeting of the Kazakh-Chinese joint commission for cooperation in the field of industrialization and investment was held in Beijing on February 11, the official website of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported.

The Kazakhstan delegation was headed by Arystan Kabikenov, Vice Minister for Investments and Development, and the Chinese delegation was headed by the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Development and Reforms of the People’s Republic of China, Ning Jizhe.

The parties discussed the implementation of the program for the development of production capacities in Kazakhstan (51 projects) initiated by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and China President Xi Jinping in 2015. The meeting also listened to reports from the Development Bank of China and the Silk Road Fund, and exchanged views on further steps to develop cooperation in non-resource sectors of the economy, digitalization, green and other high technologies.

“Now we are studying the issues of further matching of the development programs of China and Kazakhstan. In this regard, Nursultan Nazarbayev’s Address to the people of Kazakhstan is very interesting, which we have studied deeply, and which opens great opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of digitalization, industrialization, development of clean energy sources and other industries,” said the deputy director of the Development Department of China Development Bank, Hu Dongsheng.

Kabykenov’s two-day visit to Beijing also includes meetings with the leaders of such large Chinese companies as China Power International Holding, China Telecom, Shanghai Electric Corp., YTO Group, COSCO Shipping Lines, NFC, and NORINCO International.
