Turkmenistan’s agricultural sector overregulated by the state, needs economic freedom

ASHGABAT (TCA) — In late May, for the second time in recent months, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov criticized Deputy Prime Minister overseeing agriculture Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev and highlighted that reforms in the country’s agricultural sector were being implemented at an extremely low pace, the Chronicles of Turkmenistan independent website reported.

Deeper economic reforms needed in Tajikistan — IMF

DUSHANBE (TCA) — An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, led by Mr. Paul Ross, visited Tajikistan from May 17−30 and met with the country’s First Deputy Prime Minister Davlatali Said, Finance Minister Abdusalom Qurboniyon, Economy Minister Negmatullo Hikmatullozoda, and National Bank Governor Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda.

Bringing Caspian, and Turkmen, gas to Europe would become reality — EC vice-president

ASHGABAT (TCA) — In his video-call greeting the participants of the International Energy Charter Forum “Towards a Multilateral Framework Agreement on Transit of Energy Resources” held in Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat on May 30-31, Vice-President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic expressed firm confidence that Caspian and Central Asian Region and the European Union would shortly develop beneficial cooperation in different spheres including the energy, and that the negotiations and continuous efforts in provision of Turkmen gas supplies to European markets indicate strong partnership and cooperation, Turkmen state media reported.
