BISHKEK (TCA) — More than 100,000 people living in the poor rural areas of Kyrgyzstan are expected to benefit from improved access to quality water and sanitation services thanks to US $23.5 million in financing for the Sustainable Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Project, approved by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors. TASHKENT (TCA) — On September 14, the Ambassador of the United States to Uzbekistan, Pamela L. Spratlen; Deputy Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, Dr. Laziz Tuichiev; and Chairperson of the Board of the International NGO Charitable Foundation Sog’lom Avlod Uchun, Svetlana Inamova announced the arrival of a new food aid shipment provided by the USAID International Food Relief Partnership Program. In cooperation with the Government of Uzbekistan and other partners USAID will distribute over 112 metric tons of enriched food aid to 21,200 people across Uzbekistan, the press service of the US Embassy in Tashkent said. ASHGABAT (TCA) — A group of Turkmenistan medical professionals underwent a comprehensive ten-day course on essential newborn care and neonatal resuscitation in line with the newly adopted neonatal protocols. Supported by UINCEF and the Embassy of the State of Israel in Turkmenistan, the course contributed to building the knowledge and skills of healthcare practitioners in providing appropriate care first six days of a baby’s life to prevent, detect and treat problems, UNICEF Turkmenistan said on August 16.
