BISHKEK (TCA) — The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and AgroProduct Asia have inaugurated a world-class fresh fruit consolidation and packing center in Kadamjai rayon of Batken oblast in southern Kyrgyzstan. The facility is capable of storing 6,435 cubic meters of fresh fruits. The advanced technology enables the center to pack and sort up to 500 tons of fruits per day, the US Embassy in Bishkek said. TASHKENT (TCA) — A new project “Strengthening Transport and Logistics Business Intermediary Organisations (BIOs) in Central Asia” was launched in Tashkent on February 15. The project is funded by the European Union (750,000 EUR) and will be implemented in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in 2017-2019, the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan said. ASTANA (TCA) — In 2016, the volume of high-speed container trains traffic from Asia to Europe via Kazakhstan is 100 times higher than the level of 2011, President of Kazakhstan’s national railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Kanat Alpysbayev said at the Kazakh Government meeting on November 1, while reporting on projects to modernize the country’s transport and logistics infrastructure, the official website of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported. ASTANA (TCA) — Turkey proposed a new logistics project that would reduce the time of goods delivery from Turkey to Kazakhstan’s western Atyrau Region.
