BISHKEK (TCA) — The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors on March 18 approved a financing of US $12 million equivalent for the Urban Development Project in the Kyrgyz Republic. $6.6 million of this financing is a concessional credit and $5.4 million is a grant, the World Bank said. BISHKEK (TCA) — There is still a need to create more favorable investment climate for the small hydropower development in Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz Parliament Member Zhyrgalbek Turuskulov said at the Second Meeting on “Challenges and ways of development of the Small Hydropower in the Kyrgyz Republic – II”. The event was organized late last month within the framework of the “Small Hydropower Development in Kyrgyzstan” project implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by the Global Environment Facility. The key objective of the event was to define the main challenges and barriers hampering investment into the small hydropower in Kyrgyzstan, the UNDP in Kyrgyzstan reported on its website.
