BISHKEK (TCA) — On July 18, an official ceremony was held to inaugurate a cultural center that will benefit over 3,500 residents of Ottuk and Kara-Shaar villages of Ulahol Aiyl Aymak in Kyrgyzstan. Leisure and recreation services provided by the cultural center have been improved with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The ceremony was attended by residents, representatives of the Ulahol municipality and local council, the Embassy of Switzerland to the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the implementing organizations Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation and the Development Policy Institute. BISHKEK (TCA) — The Swiss Federal Councillor and Minister of Finance, Ueli Maurer, visited Kyrgyzstan from 9 to 10 July on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the joint voting group in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. The visit included meetings with Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev, Minister of Finance Adylbek Kasymaliev, Governor of the National Bank Tolkunbek Abdygulov, as well as with local entrepreneurs and opinion leaders, the Embassy of Switzerland in the Kyrgyz Republic said. BISHKEK (TCA) — Deputy Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyzstan parliament) Altynai Omurbekova, Ambassador of Switzerland to the Kyrgyz Republic René Holenstein and Acting Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Aliona Niculita on June 30 signed a memorandum of understanding to support the consolidation of a strong and inclusive parliamentary democracy in Kyrgyzstan. The signing ceremony took place in Jogorku Kenesh with participation of members of parliament, management of the apparatus of Jogorku Kenesh as well as representatives from international donor community, the Embassy of Switzerland in the Kyrgyz Republic said on July 3.
