DUSHANBE (TCA) — National consultations organised by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Tajikistan on May 17 will assist local and international partners to integrate resilience strategies into their policies and action plans, and adopt and expand the use of climate-smart agriculture practices. ASTANA (TCA) — The World Bank Board of Directors has approved a US $5 million grant by the Global Environment Facility for providing technical support to the Government of Kazakhstan and the local insurance market to help address the effects of climate change on the national economy through the development of an advanced insurance market infrastructure, the World Bank said. BISHKEK (TCA) — An expert group has concluded that the impact of the Kumtor gold mine on the reduction of the Ak-Shyyrak glaciers is “negligible”.
