Irrigation canal rehabilitated in south Kyrgyzstan with UK support

OSH, Kyrgyzstan (TCA) — Michael Tatham, Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), and Robin Ord-Smith, British Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic, on August 20 visited the Osh province in southern Kyrgyzstan to meet with Ahmadjan Mahammadov, Deputy Governor of Osh Oblast. Switzerland and EBRD support wastewater upgrade in Osh in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK (TCA) — The 275,000-strong population of Osh will benefit from a new wastewater plant which has just opened in the second largest city in Kyrgyzstan thanks to financing provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Government of Switzerland, the Embassy of Switzerland in the Kyrgyz Republic and the EBRD said on July 29. Tajik president inaugurates AKF-supported projects in Bartang Valley

DUSHANBE (TCA) — Tajikistan President Emomali Rakhmon on June 25 inaugurated a drinking water supply project that is expected to benefit 58 households, housing 354 people in disaster affected area of Ghudara village of Bartang valley, Rushan district, in Tajikistan’s Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO). The project that aims at improving access to safe drinking water and sanitation was implemented by Aga Khan Foundation and supported by the government of Finland, the Aga Khan Development Network said. Turkmenistan would abolish free quotas for natural gas, water and electricity

ASHGABAT (TCA) — At a meeting with local entrepreneurs at Turkmenistan’s Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs on June 8, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov said that the state budget allows for maintaining benefits for the residents of Turkmenistan, the Chronicles of Turkmenistan independent website reported citing official Turkmen media. EIB supports water and solid waste infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan
