DUSHANBE (TCA) — The United States Ambassador to Tajikistan, Elisabeth Millard, General-Lieutenant Rajabali Rahmonali of the Border Guard Forces of Tajikistan, and other U.S. and Tajik officials, attended the handover ceremony of $12 million dollars worth of U.S. equipment to Tajikistan’s Border Guard Agency on August 18. The United States government donated $9 million dollars of communication equipment and $3 million dollars of J8 Jeep Wranglers. This equipment was funded by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Counter-Narcotics Program and represents the United States’ continued commitment to counter the trafficking of illegal drugs in Tajikistan, the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan said. DUSHANBE (TCA) — The United States Embassy in Dushanbe, working in conjunction with the Export Control and Related Border Security program (EXBS), has provided seven new, all-purpose, 4-wheel drive, double cab pickup trucks to the Government of Tajikistan to enhance border security operations and prevent the smuggling of weapons of mass destruction, the U.S. Embassy said on June 7. BISHKEK (TCA) — Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek is hosting the 12th Central Asia Border Security Initiative (CABSI) Conference on April 27 and 28. The meeting results from the cooperation between the EU, the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior Border Management in Central Asia Programme (BOMCA) with the support of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the European Union's Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic said.
