BISHKEK (TCA) — The first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Saudi Cooperation Committee took place in Saudi Arabia on March 14 and 15, the press service of the Kyrgyz Economy Ministry said.
At the meeting, the Kyrgyz side proposed the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) to consider financing of the project of reconstruction of Balykchi-Ananyevo-Karakol motor road in the Issyk-Kul province (between the 104th and 220th km), as well as construction of Balykchi – Kochkor – Kara-Keche railroad and Central Asia – South Asia electricity transmission project (CASA 1000).
The parties also agreed to consider export of Kyrgyzstan’s agricultural products (fruits, vegetables, frozen meat, dried fruits, and honey) to Saudi Arabia.
The Kyrgyz side proposed creation of a logistics center for meat processing in Kyrgyzstan’s northern Chui province for further export of meat products to Saudi Arabia.
Kyrgyzstan expressed interest in attracting Saudi investments in aquaculture, as well as in cooperation in cattle-breeding (sheep and goats) in Kyrgyzstan.
The Kyrgyz side also proposed establishment of joint ventures for processing of agricultural products on the basis of existing facilities in Kyrgyzstan and construction of new facilities in the country.
Another sphere of cooperation is halal industry. Kyrgyzstan has asked for Saudi Arabia’s consultative assistance in the development of a legislative basis for halal standards and exchange of experience in their introduction in Kyrgyzstan.
The Kyrgyz side also invited Saudi investors to invest in poultry factories in Kyrgyzstan in accordance with halal standards.
