BISHKEK (TCA) — With US $11.9 million from the Government of Japan, Kyrgyzstan on March 7 launched three major programs to build up the country’s civil registry, increase capacity to respond to disasters, and make schools safer. BISHKEK (TCA) — Eurasian Development Bank’s (EDB) researchers believe that in 2017 direct investors from Eurasian countries will be more active in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) countries of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, EDB’s press office said on December 27. The development of China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative is expected to become one of the stimuli for FDI inflows. Chinese investors have already begun to show interest not only in hydrocarbon production, but also in transport, infrastructure, and the power sector, says a report prepared by Eurasian Development Bank’s Centre for Integration Studies. TASHKENT (TCA) — Japan’s Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS) said on November 21 that, together with Mitsubishi Corporation, it has received a full turnkey contract order for two main equipment trains of high-efficiency power generation equipment, including gas turbines and steam turbines, for the Turakurgan thermal power plant in eastern Uzbekistan.
