Korea and Japan help Kyrgyzstan tackle with disaster management issues

Japan provides $2.2 million for strengthening Tajik-Afghan border security

DUSHANBE (TCA) — The Government of Japan has provided 267 million Japanese yens (approx. $2.26 million) to the project of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) aimed at strengthening capacities of law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan responsible for border control between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, as well as enhancing the border security in Tajikistan’s Khatlon region, UNODC said.   Continue reading

Japan provides $17.5 million for road maintenance in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE (TCA) — Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojidin Aslov and Chargé d'Affaires of the Japanese Embassy in Tajikistan Takashi Kamada on March 2 signed exchange notes for the project “Improvement of equipment for the maintenance of roads in the Sughd province and eastern part of the Khatlon province” in Tajikistan, Avesta news agency reported. Asian investments in EEU economies steadily growing

BISHKEK (TCA) — Chinese investors show the strongest dynamics of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) countries (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia). Between 2008 and 2014, China's FDI stock in the region more than doubled, from $11 billion to $27.1 billion. Over the same period, Japanese FDI reached $14.4 billion and South Korean FDI reached $1.9 billion, according to the report “EEU and Eurasia: Monitoring and Analysis of Direct Investments”, prepared by Eurasian Development Bank's (EDB) Centre for Integration Studies.
