Journalist

Sergey Kwan has worked for The Times of Central Asia as a journalist, translator and editor since its foundation in March 1999. Prior to this, from 1996-1997, he worked as a translator at The Kyrgyzstan Chronicle, and from 1997-1999, as a translator at The Central Asian Post.

Kwan studied at the Bishkek Polytechnic Institute from 1990-1994, before completing his training in print journalism in Denmark.

NATO to close Central Asian office in Tashkent

TASHKENT (TCA) — The NATO Liaison Office in Central Asia will be closed early next year, Rosaria Puglisi, head of the Liaison Office, said in an interview with Fergana information agency. U.S. helps restore 12th-century Silk Road site in Turkmenistan

ASHGABAT (TCA) — U.S. Ambassador in Turkmenistan Allan Mustard visited Lebap province today, November 18, to take part in a closing ceremony for the restoration and conservation of the Dayahatyn caravanserai, an Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) project. He also reviewed the results of the conservation work done at the site. The ceremony was held at the Dayahatyn caravanserai with the participation of U.S. Ambassador Allan Mustard, as well as representatives of the National Department for Protection, Research, and Restoration of Historic and Cultural Monuments under the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, the U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat said.
