Japan donates ambulance cars to Bishkek

BISHKEK (TCA) — On January 18 the city of Bishkek received nine new ambulance cars from the government of Japan for a total amount of 100 million yen (around US $800 thousand), the Embassy of Japan in the Kyrgyz Republic said.

The handover ceremony was attended by Japanese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Takayuki Koike, and Mayor of Bishkek Kubanychbek Kulmatov.

“I am glad that we have the possibility of handing over these specialized ambulance cars made in Japan and thus help improve the rendering of first medical aid,” the Japanese Ambassador said at the ceremony.

The Mayor of Bishkek thanked the government of Japan for this grant assistance aimed at improving the quality of work of the municipal first aid service. “The municipal first aid service is our structural subdivision,” said Mayor Kulmatov. “We will continue paying more attention to it. In 2016 we promise to provide funds to make its ambulance car fleet meet modern requirements. These ambulance cars are safe and equipped with wonderful modern equipment. I think first-aid workers would enjoy using them, because the lives of our citizens depend on your work.”

The signing ceremony for this grant assistance project took place in March 2013. As part of the project, the Japanese side delivers products produced in Japan by small and medium businesses for the support of economic and social development of the Kyrgyz Republic. Lists of goods are prepared jointly by the Japanese and Kyrgyz sides.
