IMF mission visits Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK (TCA) — An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission led by Mr. Edward Gemayel visited Kyrgyzstan during January 29 to February 4 to discuss recent economic developments, government policies and economic prospects in the context of a challenging regional environment. The discussions also prepared the ground for the second review mission under the Fund supported Extended Credit Facility, tentatively scheduled for April 2016, the IMF said. Continue reading

Kyrgyz farmers deliver organic valerian root to European market

BISHKEK (TCA) — Gulnur Januzakova from the village of Kurbu in Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul province delivers valerian roots grown in her garden to Germany. Analysts speak for rebooting U.S. policy toward Central Asia

BISHKEK (TCA) — “Major geopolitical shifts and internal dynamics are setting the stage for possible increased great-power competition in Central Asia between Russia and China at a time when the region is becoming less hospitable to the projection of U.S. power and to the promotion of democracy.
