BISHKEK (TCA) — On March 2, Kyrgyzstan’s Economy Minister Arzybek Kojoshev met in Bishkek with Shigeru Tanaka, the chairman of the board of Japan’s Tokyo Rope MFG Co. Ltd, the press service of the Economy Ministry said.
After the meeting, the Japanese company and the State Agency for Investment and Export Promotion under the Economy Ministry signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation on establishing long-term partnership and cooperation for implementation of investment projects in Kyrgyzstan.
Tokyo Rope MFG Co. Ltd is considering opening in Kyrgyzstan of a plant for manufacturing of steel safety devices such as rock fall, landslide, mudslide, and avalanche prevention nets and riverbank reinforcement devices. Such plant would produce road safety devices not only for Kyrgyzstan, but also neighboring Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan.
The Kyrgyz Economy Ministry said it attaches great importance to potential cooperation with the Japanese company and potential opening of a plant for production of high-strength steel wire and nets with the use of the latest Japanese technology and experience in safety devices.
Minister Kojoshev said that projects of construction and rehabilitation of Kyrgyzstan’s transport infrastructure implemented with Japan’s assistance are known for their high quality and efficiency. Among such projects completed in recent years the minister mentioned the reconstruction of a bridge across Kok-Art river and rehabilitation of some sections of the Osh-Batken-Isfana motor road in southern Kyrgyzstan.
