ALMATY (TCA) — The U.S. Diplomatic Mission to Kazakhstan, in partnership with the Almaty City Akimat, launches USKZ Fest, the largest event of a year-long campaign celebrating 25 years of U.S.-Kazakhstan bilateral relations.
USKZ Fest will take place August 5-7 at the Central park of Culture and Recreation in Almaty (Gorky Park). Free to the public, USKZ Fest will feature performances and activities highlighting the people-to-people connections between the United States and Kazakhstan.
U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan George Krol and local officials will participate in the event and deliver opening remarks at the opening night on August 5.
The three-day festival will include performances by American cello band “Break of Reality” and Kazakh singer Galymzhan Moldanar, jazz performances by Charles Turner III and local musicians, music performance by Grace Garrett, English language theatre performance by KIMEP English Language Theatre, Kazakhstani music band ASSYL, pianist Nurgul Nusipzhanova, a fashion show by Kazakhstani designers who participated in an exchange program to the United States, a dance performance by Aisulu Azimbayeva and Chyngys Kapin, American and Kazakhstani speakers, presentations on education in the United States, sports competitions, an interactive technology workshops with “Maker Space,” UNI Mobile library, a food court, and family activities.
Speaking about the festival, U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan George Krol said, “We are proud to mark 25 years of U.S.-Kazakhstan relations through this festival uniting thousands of Kazakhstanis and their American friends. I am excited to hear the musical collaborations of American and Kazakhstani artists, as well as meet successful U.S. program alumni who will speak about their positive experiences. I invite everyone to join me at this celebration honoring the people who have made the U.S.-Kazakhstan relationship so exciting.”
