ALMATY, Kazakhstan (TCA) — The fourth meeting of the Joint working group on the organization of transportation by container trains along China–Europe-China route was held in Almaty last week. The meeting was attended by representatives of the railway administrations of Kazakhstan, China, Belarus, Germany, Mongolia, Poland and Russia, the press-service of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) national railways company reported.
Members of the working group summed up the work on the organization of transport on the route China-Europe -China for 2018 and the first quarter of 2019.
According to the statistics of Chinese Railways, in 2018, 4128 container trains along the China-Europe–China route (excluding container trains to Russia and Belarus) were organized through the Kazakh–Chinese border crossings, which is 59% more than in 2017.
In his speech the First Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC KTZ Kanat Almagambetov informed about measures taken by the Company to increase the volume of traffic along China-Europe-China route.
“We have successfully implemented the practice of combining container trains with the use of optimal formation schemes,” said Almagambetov.
In addition, the main share of container flow is reoriented to an alternative route through the interstate junction point Kartaly-1, which has a positive impact on the quality of container service.
In 2019, the participants of the joint working group will continue their work aimed at improving competitiveness, attracting additional volumes and increasing the share of rail transport in the freight market.
The participants of the meeting discussed the plans for the organization of container transportation for 2019.
The participants agreed to intensify work on the creation of joint digital services and products in order to increase the attractiveness of rail transport by providing customers with comprehensive services.
The fifth meeting of the Joint working group is scheduled to be held in Gdansk (Poland).
